manwoman
plaster 48" tall
2001

Inspired by Plato's stories about the origins of humanity. Apparently, when humans were first created, they combined the aspects of both men and women. Soon they became so powerful they rivaled the gods. To protect their positions (and to double the number of worshipers) the gods finally split us in half—separating man from woman. Humanity is forever vexed by this sundering

Presently in plaster, this piece will be cast in a more durable material such as fiberglass or aluminum.
